At first glance it is hard to believe that anyone can offer a decent web hosting service for just $1 a month – as 3ix claims to do – yet on closer investigation it is clear that they actually keep to that promise. This is the basic package, of course, but at such a low price it is hard to fault. Further claims by 3ix include a 99.9% uptime – the usual – reliability level and a selection of packages tailored to different needs, as well as highly trained and knowledgeable staff that are there to answer and help at any time. So do all the components lead to a workable package?
Value For Money
That $1 claim needs deep scrutiny, so here goes: to qualify you pay upfront for one years hosting – that’s $12 – and you get in the package 40GB of web space and 100GB of band width. That, for $1 a month, is undoubted good value. You supply your own domain – one is included in the more expansive packages, from the $5 a month package upwards – but you get everything you could possibly need for a basic website hosting. The top range package, at $8, offers 700GB of web space and unlimited everything else – everything, that is, you could need. This is a great package offer by 3ix, afforded in part by the upfront payment, but great value nevertheless – where else can you get hosting for $1?
Reliability
3ix offers and promises guaranteed 99.9% uptime, pretty much the industry standard, and does so by keeping the number of sites on its servers to the minimum and by using up to the date machinery and routing on the internet. Customer reviews are largely positive and the guarantee is backed by a money back offer for those dissatisfied in thirty days.
Customer Support
Customer service is 24 hour by telephone or by email, with the promise of quick answering of the phone and a guaranteed email response – further to the acknowledgment – within 6 hours, with reports concluding most complaints are dealt with in 2 hours or less. This is a good level of performance in the industry, and one that appears to be confirmed by many happy customers. In addition, the support portal gives access to a comprehensive knowledgebase and video tutorials, and is very simple to use.
Control Panel
It’s cPanel all the way here at 3ix, and while we are keen to see what developers can come up with given a free hand there is nothing to fault what has become the industry leading control panel. With full access to all admin areas as well as comprehensive tutorials, this easy to use and very effective panel stands up to scrutiny.
Environment
We can see no firm commitments to ecological issues with 3ix but there is an underlying trend towards efficiency and modern techniques that lends itself well to the future ways of the world in green technology terms.
