Acenet has spent a long time building its reputation in the hosting world and offers a selection of deals complete with some very impressive promises. Far from the cheapest provider on the market, the company does have a policy of excellence in customer service and reliability, and its uptime guarantee is one of the more interesting on the market. The company is also committed to constant improvement, something that is a bonus in a fast moving technologically advanced world, and its packages are simple and straightforward as well as comprehensive and fully functional. Customer feedback is generally good, so let’s have a look at the individual areas.
Value For Money
At first glance the Acenet package looks absolutely top notch: 500MB disk space, unlimited bandwidth, premium server space, daily backups, unlimited email, full spam and security package are all part and parcel of what is a very good package indeed – then you come to the clincher, the price. For a 36 month contract the price is $9.97 a month. If you only want twelve months you will pay $12.97 a month. The reputation that Acenet has is very good, the package is superbly presented and very comprehensive indeed, but we find it hard to justify such a price when similar deals can easily be found for half the 12 month rate.
Reliability
Acenet scores very well when it comes to uptime and reliability, and is scornful of the standard industry credit for downtime offers that leave consumers with several hours off line and a few cents in compensation. There is a credit for downtime offer, but what will interest users more is the guarantee – a fully monitored and proven one – of 99.95% uptime. This is a great record and one that is highly commendable.
Customer Support
With a 24 hour phone and email support centre that is highly commended by users it may offset, with the reliability record, some of the high costs of buying into the Acenet package. Quick response is guaranteed – and adhered to – and the information offered by the online services is comprehensive, useful and easy to understand.
Control Panel
It is cPanel, as is often the case, that Acenet relies on, a firm commendation for one of the industry’s most universally recognised packages and one that offers a great deal of versatility and ease of use. Although we like to see innovation in control panel design there is little on the market to match the cPanel at the moment, and Acenet scores alongside many other who use this system in this respect.
Environment
Acenet has no specific green promises to make but is a forward thinking and progressive organisation that is firmly based on improvement and efficiency for the future. Dedicated servers and hosting make it a very efficient set up and the whole organisation appears to be in tune with the way the future is set to develop.
